Oracle has recently announced its Oracle Cloud Observability and Management Platform, a set of comprehensive management, diagnostic, and analytics tools that will help users manage multiple cloud and on-premise environments. The Oracle Cloud Observability and Management Platform is available in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and comes with a set of services that provide a combined view of the entire software stack. It also enables easy diagnosis of cloud-native to automatically detect issues and offer quick remediation.
As more and more enterprises adopt cloud technology, a platform that can manage multiple cloud environments and containers is just what the industry needs. Cashing on the opportunity, Oracle has come up with its multi-cloud management services on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with the following features –
- Combined view of the software stacks.
- Diagnostics for cloud and traditional technologies deployed in multiple environments.
- Built-in machine learning features to detect problems and enable remediation.
- An Open standard-based approach with interoperability with Slack, Grafana, PagerDuty, and Twilio built-in.
- Services to monitor applications, database, logs, performance, and operations.
Oracle Cloud Observability and Management Platform provides one-click instrumentation of OCI along with providing visibility into public clouds, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
“The new platform provides observability from app to infrastructure, across the three major telemetry types: metrics, logs, and traces. We expect to see the quick adoption of these things against varying workloads. Oracle believes there’s money to be made here by Oracle and by our partners. The world is only getting more complicated, so management and observability just need to up-level and adapt. What we’ve observed is the current set of tooling has not solved the observability and management problem for customers, outages still happen,” said Dan Koloski, Oracle’s vice president of product management.
“Interoperability is baked into the platform from the ground up,” Koloski said. “You can use any of these services in combination with any other third-party toolset.”
The multi-cloud management platform’s logging, logging analytics, and Service Connector Hub features are generally available, while database management, application performance monitoring, and operations insights will be released by the end of 2020.
Oracle’s multi-cloud management solution integrates with OCI, Oracle’s own public cloud, and other public clouds and on-premises data centers.
“We expect these services to be used by both large and small enterprises who have important applications whose performance they wish to maximize. Those applications may be deployed in Oracle Cloud, on-premises, in third-party clouds, or in any combination of the three,” stated Koloski.
