Google has recently introduced its ‘Google Workspace,’ a consolidated platform that will include all of Google’s productivity apps like – Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendars, etc. in one place.
As the world shifts to a new working method due to the pandemic, human collaboration has become difficult to achieve. Understanding this scenario, Google has made the platform to be an all-in-one integrated solution that will facilitate productivity with regard to the working methods amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This cloud workspace aims to enable users to continue their work conveniently using any device and from any location, whether they are working from home or at the office.

Maintaining or even improving on pre-pandemic levels of productivity requires the right tools and amenities. Google Workspace is aimed at providing the requisite flexibility to workers and brings the tools of communications and collaborations together. Google had announced the tool integration back in July this year, and now it is generally available for all paid users. Google estimates that the coming months will witness the workspace further evolving to organize and connect people personally.
“This is the end of the ‘office’ as we know it,” said Javier Soltero, vice president, and general manager of Google Workspace. “From here on out, teams need to thrive without meeting in person, protect their time to focus on the most impactful work, and build human connection in new ways. Google Workspace gives people a familiar, fully integrated user experience that helps everyone succeed in this new reality whether you’re in an office, working from home, on the frontlines, or engaging with customers,” he further added.
So far, these products by Google were available as individual applications that solved specific problems. However, now these products have been integrated together to give a connected and flexible experience to its users. Google Workspace aims to bring an all-in-one view, which means the core tools are at the same place and become available in context, eliminating the need to switch between applications. Furthermore, the add-on features of linked previews in Docs, Sheets, and Slides allow users to preview a link’s content without leaving the original document. This saves time spent on switching between apps and tabs, and improves productivity.
Another feature rolled out by Google is the “@mentions” that connects people right where they are and helps get done more in less time. When someone is mentioned in the Docs, Sheets, and Slides, a popup will display details and provide context. That will connect users and people right in Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
In the coming months, Google will further evolve its workspace to give tailored offerings to its users. Google is also expected to roll out Meet picture-in-picture for Docs, Sheets, and Slides feature. It will enable users to see and hear the other members while collaborating. It adds that personal touch to conversations and discussions as in face-to-face meetings.
“By connecting you to relevant content and people right in Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Google Workspace helps you get more done from where you already are. We also recognize that reinforcing human connections is even more important when people are working remotely and interacting with their customers digitally. It’s what keeps teams together and helps build trust and loyalty with your customers. “stated Soltero.
